Birrunga Gallery & Dining is the only Indigenous-owned and operated commercial Cultural hub in Meanjin (Brisbane) CBD.
We are a Wiradyuri business operating with the permission of Uncle Eddie Ruska on the Traditional Lands of the Jagera, Yugerra & Turrbal People. We have been through the ceremony of being danced onto Country and gift exchange - retaining the valued message stick we were bestowed.
We have our own charity, the Wayne Weaver Foundation which provides pro bono pre and post release support for Indigenous prisoners, their families and communities. We are a recognised & awarded Indigenous Cultural Tourism destination and provider operating under the 2 core principles specified by WINTA (World Indigenous Tourism Alliance).
This states that in all aspects, we the First Nations People are the value proposition, on our own cultural terms and that we hold the stories from which astute truth telling leads to education, engagement, empathy, awareness, and healing. We offer our ongoing respect, thanks and esteem to our Elders across the lands of the continent.
