UQ Art Museum offers free exhibitions and public programs and is located at The University of Queensland's picturesque St Lucia campus. Members of the public are welcome to visit, enjoy the exhibitions and explore the galleries, which are located in the iconic James and Mary Emelia Mayne Centre. UQ Art Museum is also a leading arts industry training institution, employing UQ students and interns and supporting them in their development as future leaders in the arts sector. The Art Museum was one of the first in Australia to adopt a visitor engagement practice known as "cultural mediation", where visitors can choose to explore the artworks and exhibitions with staff members who are trained to create space for them to ask questions, share ideas, and think deeply about the artworks.
