Stratton Bar & Kitchen is one of Brisbane's most jaw-dropping venues, occupying two historic World War II hangars in Newstead which have been transformed into a spectacular world class space for drinking and dining. Step into the first hangar which has a dazzling bar running along one side, a jade coloured leather banquette along the other and a gleaming communal table through the centre. To the right is bar seating where you order drinks and food at the bar and to the left is the dining area with table service. The second hanger has been turned into a massive garden courtyard festooned with pot plants and with a glass roof open to the sky. Service at Stratton Bar & Kitchen is slick and professional and the menu is exquisite, with a Pan-Asian flavour and small or larger plates to share. Small plates include the likes of cheeseburger dumplings (a must-try), salmon tartare in betel leaves, spice salted squid with yuzu and garlic aioli, kingfish sashimi, or sweet & sour broccoli. There's also chicken karaage or Korean pull-apart pork milk bun (highly recommended), dips and bread from the pizza oven, cheese and charcuterie boards. Delectable larger plates include salmon, turmeric and coconut curry, roast duck breast with citrus sauce, beef short ribs with black bean sauce or a selection of noodle dishes (such as peanut butter with cucumber) and wood-fired pizzas. To drink there's an extensive range of creative and cocktails including Smoked Margarita, Cheeseburger Bloody Mary', Cherry Ripe Espresso Martini, Tutti Frutti and Watermelon Spritz. Other drinks include top shelf boutique Australian spirits, one of the world's best tequilas, craft beers and a curated selection of quality wines.
