Created in 1914, New Farm Park is one of Brisbane’s oldest and most well-known parks. It covers 15 hectares of land and is listed in the Queensland Heritage Register.

Picnic on the lawns to catch glimpses of the city skyline and admire the rose gardens, jacarandas and poincianas, find a shady spot next to the playgrounds, or set up by the Brisbane River, near Brisbane Powerhouse.

Prior to European settlement, New Farm was covered with bush and dotted with shallow lagoons. Following the founding of the Moreton Bay convict settlement the land initially became a farm before sub-division in 1843. The parkland had a racecourse from 1846 until 1913, when Brisbane City Council acquired the land to create a park.

New Farm Park is one of the most popular parks in Brisbane for weddings, birthdays and special get-togethers. You can choose from 4 bookable spaces. For more information and to book, visit Council's website.

This park also includes community organisations and facilities for:

  • Geoff Masters Tennis Courts
  • New Farm Library
  • Merthyr Croquet Club
  • New Farm United clubhouse and football fields
  • New Farm Park River Hub.
